What to Bring Along When Moving from New York City to Minneapolis
New York City and Minneapolis are both beautiful cities, but they’re also incredibly different. Interstate moving is stressful, even if you’ve got everything completely organized and planned out.

Winter Wear
Minneapolis sees cold weather in similar fashion to New York City, but perhaps a bit worse. You’ll definitely have to pack everything you use to get you through a New York winter, and possibly a warmer coat.
The coolest thing about Minneapolis is definitely the Skyway System. This enclosed system of bridges connects a mass amount of buildings and connects over 80 city blocks. This makes walking around Minneapolis in the winter much easier than NYC, but still, pack that jacket.
Your Bike
In the summer, Minneapolis runs a bike share for all of its residents, but if you’ve got room to store it…bring your own! The city is beautiful for summer bike rides, both for pleasure and to work. Riding by the water will be the best part of summertime in the city. Also, you’ll probably want to buy a boat.
Swim and Summer Wear
Speaking of summer, it gets as hot in the summer in Minneapolis as it does cold in the winter. There are plenty of places to beat the heat, and it’s always fun to spend a day lake hopping, depending on where you live within the city. Bring as many bathing suits as you have, because when that warmer weather rolls around, you’ll need them!
Definitely different from NYC scenery wise, there aren’t too many things that you need in New York, that you won’t need in Minnesota. While the weather differs slightly, you’ll still find yourself able to celebrate the change of every season, just like New York.
